  • Municipality of Barakaldo

Barakaldo is one of the main towns in the north of Spain. It belongs to the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country and is located in the Historic Territory of Biscay, being a centre of reference on the left bank of Nervión River.
It is the most important peripheral town around Bilbao - 8 kms by motorway or Metro- and the principal urban boundaries are the water fronts of the canalized Nervión river, which flows into the sea 8 kms from Barakaldo, its affluents Cadagua and Galindo and the Argalario hills.
With an average height of 39 mts_snm –a total of 349 mts_snm- it stretches along 25.03 Kms2 and a it has a perimeter of 25.08 Kms. Currently, it has 97,538 inhabitants.
Thanks to the efficient management of that plan -still operative today- Barakaldo has been transformed into a new economic space complementary to other towns of the Metropolitan Bilbao, where the main objective of the social cohesion of the municipality and its environment has been reflected. A social space with all the characteristics of a consolidated urban space, with the identity of a commercial and service centre within the metropolitan area of Bilbao but without losing its historical perspective as an industrial town, still preserving medium-size non-polluting industrial models and alternative uses of highly added value.

  • Genoa Port Authority

The Port of Genoa, favoured by its strategic geographic location, is placed at the centre of the important industrial and commercial area of northern Italy and southern Europe. It makes available to users and goods the qualities of experience and professionalism, result of a centuries-old maritime and port tradition.
In 1994, Law 84/94 on port reform was approved by the Italian government – now being the subject of a future reform - which introduced the private management of operations within the port, while maintaining the Port Authority still responsible for running the delicate and fundamental tasks of managing the concessions areas, the planning of the works in the port, the control of safety standards at work and on the ship, as well as the promotion of services and the organisation as a whole.
The Port of Genoa stretches uninterruptedly for 22 miles along a coastline that develops between Fiera and Voltri. It is a 'one stop multi-purpose and multi-tasking port' with more than twenty private operational terminals, equipped to welcome every type of ship for each type of goods: containers, general cargo, perishable products, metals, forestry products, solid and liquid bulk, petroleum products and passengers.
The Port has several companies offering a wide range of complementary services, from ship repair to the environment. The area occupied by all port facilities is approximately seven million square meters, which can be accessed through different places at the gates of the main directions of traffic.
Over the last few years, traffic registered a positive trend: in fact, today Genoa is the first Italian port in terms of overall handling and is among the first Mediterranean ports of final destination as to containerized transport.
